Carol Williams-Deacon

No need to buy BBQ sauces from your grocery store.  Here is a quick and delicious BBQ sauce that can be made in a snap and packs a restaurant-quality punch.  Use on your grilling faves, french fries, polish sausages, meatloaf…..or anywhere you have a taste for some great BBQ sauce.  This is a great and versatile year round sauce, so when summer is long gone, you can make this sauce and bring the outdoors in.

1 cup ketchup

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

1 Tablespoon Worchestershire sauce

1 teaspoon liquid smoke

3 Tablespoons chipotle sauce (use chipotle in adobo if you like it very spicy)

2 Tablespoons brown sugar, packed

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat to low and cover.  Allow sauce to simmer for 25 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Makes approximately 1 1/2 cups of sauce.

Note:  If you like your BBQ sauce hot, add more of the chipotles in adobo.
